Guinean Mamadou, Brazilian Marcio sign contract with Terengganu

Kuala Terengganu: Terengganu completes its four import quota when it signed up Guinean Mamadou Hady Barry, 27, and Brazilian Marcio Souza da Silva, 33,  here yesterday as its strikers for next season, Terengganu football sources tell Bola Pantai Timur.

They add that both signed up a one-year contract.

With the signing, Terengganu has a strong Indonesian flavour in its line-up. Both Mamadou and Marcio as well as newly-signed Australian midfielder Mario Karlovic used to play for Indonesian clubs. They all speak good Bahasa Melayu. Indeed Mamadou is a Muslim since birth while Marcio is a Muslim convert.  Terengganu new coach Haji Abdul Rahman Ibrahim, himself a former Terengganu player and coach, also used to coach Deltras Sidoarjo club in Indonesia.

Communication should thus not be a problem for the Terengganu camp. Even the other import, Cameroonian central defender Vincent Bikana is into his second season with Terengganu.

Prior to joining Terengganu, Mamadou played for Hong Kong's South China. He had asked for a transfer from the club. His first stint in Hong Kong began with Sun Hei from 2011-2013. In Indonesia, he used to play for Persipal Palu and Persires Rengat.

The clubs which Marcio had played for included Perseman Manokwari, Persib Bandung and Arema Indonesia.
