Kuala Terengganu: Today is the beginning of a new transfer window for players in both the Super and Permier Leagues.
According to a poll conducted by Bola Pantai Timur recently, there is a mixed assessment on the performance of import players.
Only 33% think that they are excellent. Another 33% feel that they are just like local players. Indeed another 33% believe that some of them need to be replaced.
Last night Francis Forkey Doe missed a penalty for TRW while Marcio Souza missed one for Terengganu. TRW lost 0-1 to Selangor while Terengganu lost 2-3 to Sime Darby. It was reported in the social media that Marcio also missed a few chances, including a one to one opportunity with the Sime Darby keeper.
When the teams in the Super League are not separated too far apart, and teams find it hard to remain consistent over a longer period, the expectation on import players in particular are high. T-Team's head coach sums it up when he said on TV2 last night, " This is the only material that we have." The basement team drew with visiting Perak team 1-1.
In the case of FELDA and Sarawak, they had finalized the replacement for or additional import players earlier on before the window is opened for registration.
Still the respective teams/ clubs/ associations must also make sure who they choose to bring during this transfer window are undoubtedly better value-buys who can assist their mission and goals for this season and meet their fans' expectations.
