Kuantan: Pahang head coach Ron Smith will join his charges in Hong Kong for their pre-season friendlies.
The team shall leave for Hong Kong tomorrow.
The Elephants have lined up matches against three HK first-tier clubs (first division league) -BC Rangers, Citizen FC and Kitchee.
Assistant coach, Zainal Abidin Hassan, explains to Bola Pantai Timur, " We want to repair current weaknesses by playing against top teams there. In short we want to widen the players' exposure and get them ready for the 2014 season." He adds the vacancy left by Mohd Amirul Hadi Zainal in midfield is a glaring weakness to be ironed out.
Although Pahang FA has made their appeal regarding the player's sudden last-minute switch to JDT, Zainal says the team cannot wait for its outcome. He stresses, " We will continue with our programme." It is believed that Pahang only registered 24 players with FAM when the registration closed last month.
So far Pahang has had three friendy games - winning 7-2 against Shahzan and 6-1 against UiTM but losing 1-2 to PKNS.
